The 4 1/2 x15 are perfect and the tires (145 15 Japanese name) were just purchase from Airspeed
aat the end. the 5 1/2 X 15 (195 60 15 at 80% meat or so) I believe one of them may have been affected by the curve but i don't know. I have a replacement (5 1/2 X 15) without tire.

I took the beam off the car on Sat. Emilio you are a very lucky man that car was an accident waiting to happen!!! Next time when you buy a car have someone go with you and get a second opinion, There are almost as many cars in that as Geoff put in the Heb! Big differance being all parts were Brassed into place no welds. Front clip was brassed on, Dash section up half way on front window brassed in roof section brassed!!!!! Both rear door posts were tack brassed in place. Patches in fender wells were brassed right over all the rust with thin galvainized tin and rear quarter section was brassed tack in place. Silicone was on all door post seams and other spots!!!

I took the beam out and car has soo much rust Hans and I pushed on the front end and if we wiggled it I'm sure we could have broke the whole front end off right to the door posts!

All I can say Emillio is someone was looking after you it could have been alot worse!

Sorry to have to tell you this but I think this is information you should know.

Would like to see it all in person!

Why do it once when you can do it thrice?

Thanks Gary,

I went with the visual rust at the time and all the receipts from work done (considering that I was so eager to get one after 24 years without one.) Since it was a lady, I assumed that the shop that had done the work was on the up & up. Every other VW that I ever owned was in a part of the world (Puerto Rico and Hawaii) where that degree of rust is unheard off.

I am more aware of the local scene now and have passed on more projects as I got one that I probably will not be able to finish and have no clue what it would cost if I was to pay for it. I have also inquired about replacement VWs. However with my lack of mobility I probably need help to ensure they are structurally sound. I have a buggy, a van, and a 68 Beetle in mind at this point.

So today I disposed of the shell. Once the roof was off  I was able to simply rip the front half of the car off the pan by hand, nothing holding it on but silicone and rust. The rear half only required the bolts across the rear of the pan to be removed and rip.....off it came ,  replacement heater channels stayed complete and on the pan and did not seem to be attached to the car at all. Wait .... there's more , now for the pan halves ,  same thing , fully removed by HAND !!  No cutting or grinding. There was really nothing holding that car together.

Emilio , I have a big box full of all the little parts and pieces which you may be able to apply to your 66 project or .....  , also still up for grabs wheels & tires , gas tank , rear & side glass  , right front fender , bumpers........
