Little Update
« on: November 13, 2005, 03:20:31 PM »
well a long while ago i sent the car off for blasting.then had a vision of getting on the bodywork right away but it just never happened.
so i have since had the car lightly reblasted (surface rust was starting) and now in primer.it is now not going to start to rust on me and i can get the metal work started here in the next little bit.(looks like January)
i borrowed a set of brm's off a budy to see how they would fit,but forgot to get studs for the back but i get the idea of what it will look like.

in the mean time waiting for bodywork i have rechromed most everything i can think of that needs to be done.my seat material has been ordered and should come from Lebarron Bonney monday.can't wait for the material to be stitched up :D
i bought a cool set of headlights off the internet and have had the rings rechromed and the inside zinc plated.there are a cool headlight with a H4 style bulb on the back.

Damn you Russ! that's another color to scratch off the potential list for the notch. Good choice though!

Hey Russ,
When you get the material in and get it all stitched up I would love to see it first hand. Since it is a potential fabric for my moms cabrio... Looks like your cars coming along great. Mad props!

Kirin,
i think most of the material Lebarron bonney makes is for early fords.
i ordered all the colour samples they have,if you want to borrow it just let me know.
Matt,
i damn near did not use the colour because Rick just had his car out this year, then i thought screw it i like the colour :D

well it has been awhile since the last update but work is finally moving along on the 55.
the body was dropped off at Stephan feegs for the bodywork thanks Shane :D

there was not a ton of rust but the bracket that holds the door in had broken loose and was fixed

the heater chanels themselves are super solid but the bottom part had some minor pinholes so they were cut out

the car had been hit front and rear so we did not have to deal with alot of rust but we did have body damage to tend to.rear quarter crunch

lining the decklid up on the rear clip

the front did not look too bad to me but posed more of a problem.3 shots of the front being grafted together

this takes us upto date on the car so far.the plan is to have the metal work done then bring the car home and fit the engine, plumb all the lines and basically test fit everything before it goes back for final bodywork and paint.

well here are the latest pics.
the first is the fron apron that has been pieced together (still not welded but getting closer.)

the next two are with the rear fenders attatched with the tiny egg taillights(or heartless hearts as some would call them),i'm really diggin the taillights and how low they are.it is being test fit with a euro bumper(we will be running the new wolfsburg west ones)

we are being told the metal portion of the body should be ready for the end of the month.
we are then taking it home and starting partial reassembly Lanny will be helping out with this part,Jim has also said he will swing by to help with running the lines and any other oddities i need help with.
so this is where it stands as of this point

I am pretty confident in their abilities, just as I am in yours G ;)
and thanks again for your help on Friday!

Getting pretty excited about the progress lately,
this weekend we organized all the parts we have been stashing away for a decade for this car to try and figure out what we still need. WOW, I love the parts shopping!!

I call this pic the perfect swap stall. You know, the one that has almost every pretty, sparkly item you need for your car :)
(oh ya, and some not so pretty parts on the towel)

thanks to everyone that has offered to help with assembly,
we will surely take you up on those offers

hopefully soon

Erin

well it has been a little bit since the last update,so here it goes.
this is the back end pieced together but not fully done yet.we are using after market fenders and the body lines don't line up with the apron great.here is a shot of one side fixed  and the other ready to be fixed, then a close up of how it is lining up.

the next two are just little bits of putty here and there it may look like alot but it is really quite thin.

and lastly are working semaphores:)

all i can say is the main parts are over Stephan has spent alot of time just making sure the body lines are right.were the car was hit in the rear proved to be a big pain just getting the decklid to line up right,in the end i would have been better starting off with a different lid.oh well live and learn.
there are a few small bits left to do then the car will get a spray putty on all the flat panels and will be all mostly blocked off to get it nice and straight.
that should be happening next week so we are close to getting it home :D
then the mock up and send it back for final blocking and paint
