Radars are pretty hard to find down here. Randars are supposed to be about the closest replica you can get and they look pretty nice from what I have seen too. Randee down in San Diego, I hope I got his name right, makes them...see if I can scrounge up a link for ya...

Not cheap but from what I have heard from people that have them, they love em.

58type2 hit the nail on the head. follow that lead if you want them. imo, they're actually a very nice looking wheel and not many people up here run them.

and like russ said, i believe a set started at around $1000-$1200 so the price has dropped substantially.

FYI,  you can get Radars at cip1.com

Randars, the new BRM (the wheel everyone has).   You heard it here first.

:)  Go OG

imo, repro fuchs are going to become as popular as the hawaiian pizza. with radars close behind. i agree with you, ehos. roll og. it may empty one of those bags of money you have in your closet, but it'll be worth it.

the difference that i can see between the radars and randars is the raised edge on the spoke.

radars from cip w/ raised edge.

randars from randee w/ smooth spokes.

Silas,  aren't those cip1 randars the same as Randee's?   If not, then I would NOT buy the cip1's

I've heard nothing but awesome things about Randees.    I'm personally going to roll 14\"  Fuchs, OH YEAH!

(One inch lower to the ground, and 1000 cheaper, woots!).  But I'm poor.  I couldn't justify the money for 4.5's or OG anything.     :D

The original Raders had the aluminum centers riveted to the steel band.  The Rander copy has a steel insert cast into the aluminum where it meets the steel band, then they are welded together.  The CIP copies are 100% cast aluminum.  Don't condemn the ones from CIP until you look at them first hand.
IMO the poorest construction of the 3 is the Rander copy.

Thornton in Oregon sold a perfectly restored set of 5 original Raders on eBay last year for $5000.

i got the top pic from the cip1 website and the bottom pic from randee's add on thesamba.com.

apart from the differences that bruce has stated above, the only noticable difference i see is the raised edge on the spokes.

I don't like the look of the randars. That little raised area on the spoke makes a big difference to me anyway for looks. The CIP ones are eactly what I am after but they never have them in stock.
