Single Port Intake Manifold #'s
« on: March 07, 2007, 09:12:44 PM »
what exactly does the part # on a single port intake manifold specify?

size of motor? type of carb?

for example...

the one i pulled off my motor has the # 111 129 701 AA VW 5

cip lists the replacement as # VWC 113 129 701 K

someone can sell me one with the # 113 129 701 A VW 16

another person has one available with the # 111 129 701 D

the only noticeable difference i can see after viewing pics is that some have a vacuum port on the 3/4 side and some dont. what i cant tell from pics is the ID of the carb mount and ID of the intake. are they different?

can anyone enlighten me about the differences before i go and buy one?

thanks in advance.

i stole this pic off thesamba.com. it has the same part # as the one i took off my 1500sp...you can see that small pipe off the 3/4 side.

i'll take my digital caliper to work tomorrow and measure the ID & OD of the tube for you and take a better pic or 2.

I am just expeculating but the number could have something to do with 1300cc, 1500cc, 1600cc, and on  what year VW they came out off.

I thought only 1200cc manifolds had the separate flange pieces? Is the one pictured from a 1500cc?

danny - ID is 9/64 and OD is 15/64. looks like it's too small for your application.

emilio - i was thinking the same thing. i need to know if that is in fact the case and how that affects the carburetor that i will use.

mike - i'm not sure what 1200cc manifolds look like, but the one off the samba has exactly the same part # as mine, and mine is off a 1500cc sp.

so can anyone clarify exactly what the differences are? where the hell is bruce tweddle when you need him?

Yeah we need Bruce

The 111 129 701D that I have is a smaller diameter off of a 1200cc

I also have an assembled 1600CC, and you were right its got the loose flanges, cant read the number off it though.

1300 /1500 manifolds flanges are angled a little where it bolts to the head. I'm pretty sure any of this style will fit any 1300 / 1500 or 1600 single port motor. It's just the different vacuum ports you have to deal with.

1200 manifolds flanges are straight or flat where they bolt to the heads . 36hp's are the same way but I don't think they fit 1200's.

And I'm pretty sure there are only 2 carb flange bolt patterns( allthough carb size changed) , anything up to dual port , and dual port .

Please correct me if I'm wrong

Can't enlighten you on the #'s, but 1300 sp manifolds are smaller dia. than 15/1600's. The difference is fairly obvious. There are also the sp manifolds with the large vacuum takeoff right under the carb for the Autostick cars. One of these would be ideal for a brake booster equipped car, but I did once use a 1600 sp in a 71 bus, and hooked the brake vacuum line to the small (1/4\") fitting on the Lt. side, and it worked fine.
