what is the difference between that new club and the dvkk?  arent they both about the same thing with the exception of the exlusivity in dvkk?  high perf ac vw's? I mean I have a bus and obviously would never run 12s but i bet i can match most of the dvkk cars in looks...

Well, Let me take the first stab at this..
DGLVK.... are about fast cars aswell. Looks are not so important.
Hoosier Daddy wanted to be in a club and so he approached James and myself..
I personally have never been in a club and the DVKK are snobs..... (Kidding) So I thought this would be fun. We are also aiming for fast. We want to start competition between DVKK as this adds interest and make the VW scene even bigger.. We are accepting pledges.... and Hoosier can fill you in on all that.
I also know Kafer Kraft is a club and all there cars are slow..

Send us a note....

Cheers
Shane

Pipes and I are going to go against that comment that Kaferkraft is slow. With his engine in the front powering my wheels and mine in the back we should be able to keep up with James.

You mean there isn't a whole new band of power in a engine past 6000rpm? I thought if it breaks at 8000rpm it wasn't built right :P

DGLVK - Based on Fast aircooled cars. Who cares if it isn't painted yet :) Hey Kirin if you think you can keep up with me put your money/beer/crown royal on the line :)

There is good reason for some exclusivity in clubs - it's great to have a big group of people that like the same thing but ya have to like each other. We do \"pledges\" - a person has to meet certain criteria prior to becoming full members. Lets everyone get to know each other (including the pledge) and decide if it will be a good fit.

Another commitment DGLVK has made is to start a new show to add to everyone's schedule - West Coast Showdown 2004.

As far as difference between DGLVK and DVKK - not much, same love of the hobby, same need for speed, slightly different membership criteria, and we have the FASTEST aircooled around.

Well Kirin if you build your own Engine great for you.... However if I wanted a 20 sec car like you I would build my own engine aswell..... C'mon man we know Darren builds 80% of the engines.... I too could have had him build me one also however It was cheaper for me to buy Timmy's.... and really all you have to do is make sure the front of seabert looks good as that is all I will see in my rear view mirror.. :P  :P  :P  :P

Another thing I could say is in Kafer Kraft's defence,  most of us are under 25 not a bunch of old foggies.
And I'd say we're doing pretty damn good with our cars for a bunch of university/high school students who don't have careers and a lot of money to play around with.  Just think where we will be in 10 years.

DGLVK is pretty much about FAST street driven VW's.  enough said.  I believe that this club will promote a lot more people to build big motors and aim for a  member ship spot in this club.

this will be great because for many years only DVKK has been the \"club\" around here.  now that james, shane and shane have started this club, the DVKK can no longer claim the track or the show curcuit.  I'm sure james, shane and dan will eventually paint their cars and do the interiors as well.  Brad purser is in the DVKK and his car is a total rat bug (cool)!

anyways, I'm not fast enough for the clubs, so I shouldn't talk :P

haha...I found a recent picture on the samba that could represent the DGLVK club!

dans blue 63 (rag though), shanes green 65 (but the one in the picture is a split), shane and james's car's (the red 59), and then 66 split's bus!

these are all fast cars too!

I believe if you were really involved in the aircooled community last spring and summer you would of noticed that a little club called Kafer Kraft put on a drive in night and a whole spring of cruises. Many people from ALL clubs including the DVKK showed up and enjoyed them. If you put on events you would know how very little gratitude you get in the aircooled community other then the odd thanks. Its great to know that our efforts have pretty much gone unnoticed and all we're being seen as now as \"supporters\" for the other clubs because some of our cars are slow examples.

I mean isn't driving your vw what the whole thing is about? The great thing about the Vancouver VW community is the diversity. You got show queens, clean drivers, drag racers and the daily drivers. If you start to discriminate you lose the community aspect. The cruises we put on were none discrimatory. I personally don't want to have to do anything to do with a vw community that boasts a popularity contest based on whose car has the bigger or faster engine. Because to me it's all about having fun.

kirin, very well said!

some people are bothering me (as a joke of course) that I'm driving my oval daily...and I mean daily.  I'm going snowboarding next week .  :P

I like the fact that there is competition and trash talk...it sorta encourages people to build that sleeper no one knows about that will spank the cars at the track, or to build the quick street/strip, drag, or dialy driving car!
