Problem with beam
« on: August 01, 2021, 11:02:22 AM »
I have an adjustable beam. It was lowered and I wanted to bring it back up to original height. My mechanic did it and a week after, the upper adjuster plate let go and it came back down. The splines on the beam are rounded so I don't think it will hold at the top. I asked the mechanic to weld the plates together but he won't do it because he says the grease in the beam could explode/catch fire. What are the thoughts out there? It needs to be welded and if someone has no problem with it, let me know.

you did not say if beetle beam or bus beam. if bus beam some people used the adjusters for the lighter beetle. bus ones are more beefy.yes there is grease in there, explode not sure, but fire yes and will make a big mess when the grease melts.
