Josh77 Intro
« on: February 23, 2006, 06:06:29 PM »
just saying hi as a newbie. i found you guys thru volksrods, and look forward to contributing if i can. i'm an import auto tech in s.e. wisconsin. i specialize in jap stuff, but always look forward to the spring crop of air cooled stuff that comes out to play after winter hibernation. my current project is a 77 lincoln mark v that will finally be done shortly, and i've got a 68 bug at home that's up next. i'm not sure what direction the bug will take yet, but i might thrash it together for a daily ride for this summer at least, it's a solid and straight CA car that just needs a little tlc before it hits the road. drop spindles, front discs, 14\" fuchs front, 15\" repop rears, rear torsion adjuster, quick and dirty paint job=cruise time. this was an autostick car that i converted to stick so it's a 68 irs. it came with a new 1600 s.p. (yawn), but it'll have to do for now. i'll let my wife drive it until i build an engine big enough to scare her.
dare i post a pic of an un-vw?

here's a couple shots of the linc in primer. i'll start the final block sand next weekend. i want to paint (satin metallic blue) by mid-march.

i shaved all the side trim, door handles, vinyl top, etc. on this boat, tucked the bumpers tight to the body, lots of louvers, this car has been freaking people out since i started on it early last year, everyone thought i was nuts until they see it now.
thanks for the welcome! :D
