1965 Single Cab W/ Porsche 3 Litre
« on: December 05, 2003, 09:02:39 PM »
I picked this truck up as is back in the summer.  I am slowly gathering the parts I need to begin the restoration.  The truck came with virtually NOS gates and a host of new parts.  In Sept. I purchased a Porsche 911 3 litre with tranny to install into the truck.  Last week I got a sumbrella material tilt which should be arriving in the next couple weeks.  I am hoping to start working on the truck at the beginning of the summer.

Alp,  looks like you've got a good project on your hands.  I was considering a Porsche 6 as well, but have opted for a Type 4 instead.  Keep us posted on the progress.

Hey Alp.
I have heard of your bus from your friend Al Larson.(The BMW 2002 guy)
Seems like a really cool project.. Al's doing my interior right now... should be nice full custom including a heat formed carpet kit. No Mail order stuff in my car..

So far I have still be slow at getting things going on the bus.  I am trying to first get any body panels collected that I don't already have.  I picked up a NOS treasure door the other day.  Now I just need to find a cab floor, another treasure chest door and a rear tailgate.  I have 2 treasure chest doors that have pin hole rust but do not know if they are worth fixing or not.  The truck is pretty clean and should not need too much repair work other then the drivers rocker under the treasure chest and a cab floor.  I got a brand new replacement bed a while ago.  Recently I purchased an atermarket tilt that should look cool on the truck.  Front and back safari's from CE in England are all ready to be installed.  I am hoping to have things ready to begin by the end of fall.  I am doing a 1970 Datsun Roadster restoration first so I am in no rush.

Hey Alp. It was nice to meet ya when I was out there for the GCVW show. Shoot me some pics of your truck. Let me know if your in need of anything else parts wise, cause I'm looking in to getting a 63 SC that would be willing to donate some \"organs\" for better projects.

Trevor, does it have a good cab floor?  That's what Alp needs.  If you know of a good side cargo door, he needs one too.

I believe the floor is OK, but haven't taken a very close look at it. The treasure chest door is there, but not sure if the cancer has gotten it yet. I'll let you know when I get it.

Sorry I haven't been to this site for a while I didn't see your post.  I have some pictures of the truck and my bike stuff on Yahoo Photos (http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/evilalp/my_photos?urlhint=actn,del%3as,1%3af,0).  I am needing to find a treasure chest door and a complete floor section.  Other then that I am good to start.  That would be great if you could keep an eye open for me out there for some parts. Thanks Alp
