nose cone issue
« on: June 07, 2011, 12:34:35 PM »
I have a 73 swing axle AS-19063 for my 59 beetle. Installed a type 2 nose cone 211-301-211 and hockey stick 9R19 ....having alot of trouble finding gears....reverse seems to be straight down where second is....manually tested gears with nose cone off and they are fine. Tried a type one stick 111-307-541 but is to long ...

Help
Willis

i hads the same problem with a bugpack quick shift kit and it was due to little plastic nub left on the shifter ball socket. just that little bit extra leverage through the whole thing out of whack. maybe the shifter isn't speaking the same language as the hockey stick? maybe needs some shims on the shifter plate?
the customer is always wrong

Hey Willis , not sure about this issue but did you check into the bearing cage clearance issue of early nose cone to late trans?
