According to AirCare/ICBC: (see
www.sva.bc.ca/ICBC/7.6modified.pdf )
A modified motor vehicle means a motor vehicle of a manufacturer's make where an individual has altered:
a) the body of the motor vehicle /snip/
B) any one or more of the following so that they differ from the manufacturer's available original equipment options for the model year of that motor vehicle:
i) the chassis
ii) the power train, or
iii) the steering and braking mechanical components
MODIFIED-A - if the vehicle passed inspection and was registered as a specialty or similar vehicle
after August 31, 1994. The exhaust emission standards are those applicable to a 1988 model year motor vehicle of the same weight, engine displacement, and vehicle type as set out in the Exhaust Emission Standards Regulation.
Good News! I just heard from AirCare that my bus, although currently unregistered, and falling into the MODIFIED-A category need only meet AirCare standards for a 1959 vehicle. That should be easy.
See you on the road in 2004
