Young Lad Needs Help!
« on: February 22, 2006, 05:08:51 PM »
There is a good friend of my kids that is laying in the hospital after a drunk driver T-boned the car he was riding in. He was hit with the full impact of a truck doing 50 - 60 mph. He has a broken pelvis, shattered left femur (main bone in the thigh) and had his aorta torn in his heart. He is recovering from heart surgery and his pelvis looks like it will heal. His leg on the other hand is not doing very well. The doctors had to pull pieces of his femur out of his hip (it exploded). The swelling is so bad that they had to cut his leg open to relieve the pressure. At this point he may lose his leg. Right now we are thankfull that he is alive but I'm asking all of you that are praying people to lift this young man up! His name is Paden (pay-den), he is 17 and a football star in his school and plays bass guitar in a christian rock band.

Thank you!
Steve

This is what is left of the car Paden was in. The side facing you is cut open to get him out.

I just got off the phone with Padens mom. Here is the latest on his condition;

His heart is healling very nicely. He had a small tear in his spleen(?) which appears to be healling. The swelling in his leg is finally starting to go down (they had to open it up from the bottom of his calf to the top of his thigh because the skin was ready to split). They just found out that he has 5 broken bones in his left forearm and wrist and it is in a cast. The big problem right now is the fact that he is not able to get up and heavily medicated and there is fluid starting to build in his lungs.

Please, keep lifting this lad up!

Thanks,
  Steve

I really hate to see something like this happen to good people.  Just ain't right.  Paden and all his family & friends are in our thoughts and prayers... and will continue to be until he's right again.

We've had a couple of our brothers over on Volksrods suffer some terrible accidents much like this, in the last year... it's just senseless and we know how hard it hits when it hits that close to home.

Many prayers and mojo heading your way from the Volksrodders.   Lots of us will be keeping our eyes on this, watching his progress.   Please keep us informed, man.

Good news on Paden! I just got back from the hospital. Things are going well. The swelling in his leg continues to go down. He still can't feel anything in his toes, which is a concern. His breathing is getting better and they are able to keep him awake longer which helps with the fluid building in his lungs. They took him off self medicating (push button when hurts) morpheine yesterday. The doctors are hoping to get him out of intencive care and into a regular room within a couple of days. This kid has made amazing progress in one week! Thanks to all who have been praying and keeping him in their thoughts!

Good news! Paden has been moved out of the hospital and into a rehabilitaion unit. I'm not sure how long he will be in there. It all depends on how fast he can manage on his own.

Thanks to all who remembered him in their thoughts!

Well, It has been one month to the day from the accident that nearly took this lads life. He has had an amazing recovery so far. He had 6 surgeries. He has a steel rod in his leg from the hip to the knee that is holding his femur together. He is already at home! He still has to continue therapy, but he's home.
All of his friends have been calling him \"The REAL SUPERMAN\"! This is one tough kid and he has a lot of friends (and people he doesn't know :) ) that were lifting him up when it was needed.

Thanks to all!!
