Hey at least your looking in the right place! Best forums on the planet!!

Is your beetle a super or standard beetle? I am not sure if they made both in 78, anyone??

That will affect your choice and cost when it comes to lowering your car. :)

That I know for sure, and welcome to the forums!

73-79 verts are all the late curved windsheild Super beetles. If you have time to call us at the shop we can assist you in your plans. We stock most of what you need and will get anything you may have seen in a magazine or competiters catalog.

There is no problem keeping it a daily driver with the mods you listed.

Airspeed # 604-881-2233 we will be closed this weekend but will re open Tuesday at 8;30am

The sky is the limit - Just plan on a budget and stick to it or you'll be over your head in no time (trust me I know first hand)

78 vert SHOULD have struts - you could go with a Topline adjustable strut - they are 3\"-5\" drop which will can the car. Rear is just labour to lower unless parts need to be renewed (like bushings etc) They also make some nice strut braces, sway bars etc..

Disc brakes are the way to go for sure you just have to keep in mind the type of rim/tire combo you plan on so everything will fit nicely together and not rub. And if you do go new brakes you can change the bolt pattern to pretty much anything to accomodate your rim choice.

Performance mods there is pretty much no limit to what you can do - I would suggest setting a goal/guideline for it and try your best to follow it. Is the car a daily driver or a weekend cruiser? Do you want to go carbs/turbo/FI etc... Plan to spend money on a tranny to match your power as well.

Hope this helps some

Same year as my sis's vert.

Do the brakes and suspension 1st. I highly recommend the disc brakes for the front, 1st thing we did to sis's after getting the paint done. Re-assembled the car and it would stop!.

Then worry about the bling bling
