Post the tooth count numbers.  Divide the ring gear by 8 to get the ratio.  Your early one is 35/8 = 4.37:1

Look carefully on the side of the ring gear for a 4 digit stamp.  There will be a letter with 3 numbers like G831 on the late ring gear.  Post those.

What are the letters next to the tooth count stampings on the ring gears?

No, the marks are on the OD of the ring gear.  Wipe away the gunk.
