1963 Gulf Blue Notch, 6V, stock 1500 runs great with the factory Single sidedraft carb, S&S Header, freshly tuned with new plugs, wires, cap etc.
I rebuilt the rear brakes using brand new later 5 bolt drums, shoes and cylinders. The fronts are the original pinwheel drums that didn't need replacement. I will include the pinwheel rear drums/shoes/ backing plates etc with the sale.
The interior needs work, it has the typical dash cracks, and the seats are weathered. It is missing the drivers side upper door trim and one of the trims in the back as well. It also has no carpet.
The structure of this car is great, the only serious issue would be the rockers. The drivers side looks to have been replaced by a chunk of angle iron, and the passenger side has been curbed and started to rust through. The front fenders were typically starting to rot with some "bodywork" started. I just smotthed it out and put some primer on it. It looks OK now but I wouldn't trust whats underneath, just because I didn't do it so I'm not sure how it was done. The rear fenders have the same deal on the lower section.
The engine bay is one of the cleanest un-restored I have ever seen. That goes for the rear trunk fabric as well. The front trunk has a Gas heater, condition unknown. and solid unmolested/unhit spare tire area.
As the pictures show it has a wicked patina.
The only reason to sell is I have 2 other notchbacks, one driver and one project. I don't need a third notchback. I will consider trades for other vw's or a boat ,or a motorcycle or a .....??
