Classifieds / FS: Custom Aircooled VW Type1 Turbo setup, needs finishing
« Last post by Stephan Schmidt on June 14, 2021, 08:09:51 AM »
Custom unfinished turbo setup from Brad Purser's old "Rusto-cal" Oval, AKA project Klaatu.

Some parts include:

*Garrett 60trim turbo, .60 ar compressor side, .81ar hot side, T4 Flange
*Genuine Tial 38mm v-band wastegate, extra spring included
*Genuine Tial Q 50mm Blow Off Valve, with v-band
*Megasquirt 3.0 v2 standalone (with cable)
*Holley EFI throttle body
*Vortech Air to Water intercooler with extra Water to air cooler with fan, Hella Water pump

Parts all came from a custom turbo build which was never finished.
Header is finished and welded, but could use polishing or ceramic coating. V-band for wastegate and v-band external dump tube for wastegate are also done.  Thick flanges, all welded, custom built by “Turbo Jim”. Header was on a 2332 CC engine, front flange below trans bell housing may need to be re-welded and adjusted depending on the width of your engine.

Turbo sits in the package try of a sedan, downpipe is complete, all stainless steel.  Made to clear the stock wheel well housing.  Exhaust has a V-band flange to a short stainless steel polished bombshell muffler made for a center apron exit. The muffler still needs final welding. Has good clearance on rear c/v’s…Note that the bus trans is raised 1.5”, so you’ll have more apron clearance without a raise.

Intake mainfolds need to be finished.  The top carb flanges have been cut and need to be welded to the intake tops. Intake manifolds also have injector cups and fuel rail provisions welded on. Fuel rails are included.  Slight porting was done on the intake manifolds which were matched to some CB Street Eliminator heads.

The intake plumbing is cut to length most is welded, but some still requires finishing.  Intake pipe to both intake manifolds is complete and goes through the left side of the firewall.

Throttle body is a Holley 5.0L mustang 70mm unit, intake flange to throttle body flange is welded and finished and comes with a new gasket. There are multiple new aluminum charge pipes, boost clamps, flanges, gaskets and fittings.

Air to water intercooler is a large Vortech unit with -an fittings fitted.  The intake portion of the intercooler as well as mounting brackets were never finished.  Intercooler ice tank is complete, powder coated and sits in the spare tire well.  It was built to fit in my 1956 oval, so it would be a direct fit for cars up to 1960 with the early hump fuel tank.  Hoses, fittings and lines to the rear luggage tray area will also be included.  Included is also a water to air cooler with electric fan which fits below the tank in the spare tire well.   The water pump is a new Hella auxiliary unit.

The intake setup was made to work with a Porsche 911 fan housing which I also have for sale.

I’m having a difficult time coming up with a price for the parts.  The value is in the turbo, header, tial parts, Megaquirt and intercooler setup.  All of the other pieces still require finishing.

Would like to sell as a package.  Make me an offer!

Classifieds / FS: Beetle Rear Fiberglass Fenders, 1" wider than stock
« Last post by Stephan Schmidt on June 14, 2021, 07:25:29 AM »
Selling a pair of fiberglass rear aircooled VW beetle fenders. These are 1" wider than stock and are for pre-1967 Type 1 bugs.

For some reason, someone cut a slit into them at the front edge and then rivetted some pieces of metal across them. These would need a fiberglass layer put over the back side and then the front side filled in. Fix this and never deal with rust! Plus, these are very light! No cracks and they are still in the original primer. The taillight mounting holes were drilled for 1955-1961 taillights.

These are approx. $180 USD each new.

$120 for the pair.

Located in North Surrey BC near Guildford Mall.

Type 1 style Porsche cooling shroud set up for VW beetles / buses.

This is the early magnesium “901” Porsche fan with alternator. Comes with the shroud, fan, fan housing, alternator, stand and clamping bracket.

Fiberglass shroud had 5 holes drilled in it for spark plug wires and a hole on the backside - no idea why its there, but it would need to be filled in to help with cooling.

About $2000 euros plus shipping new, selling for $1400 Canadian.

Located in north surrey BC near guildford mall.

I have an adjustable beam and it's frozen. Came with the bus. Unless someone has an idea how to thaw it, I'm needing a standard beam. Want to get it back to the original height. The ride is killing me!
