Transmission Binding!?
« on: April 24, 2004, 08:34:50 AM »
So now I'm worried. This transmission I now installed in Seabert is really stiff to turn over. One of the drums that had a hard time getting on the splines and I used a bit of force   Anyways this transmission is really stiff to turn over. In gear or no from the drums. Also both wheels turn in the same direction.. And it seems like one axle is farther in then the other. Am I headed for trouble? HELP!?
Car in question is a 62 bug with a 72 swing axle..
If more power is better. Then too much is just enough.
Why do it once when you can do it thrice?

Its gone together fine since.
got it installed doing the back brakes even filled it.. And the side cover still leaked a bit. Thank god for a bit of RTV. But one of the axles got all stiff.. and now its hard or stiff to turn over. Hopefully I can get the engine today and maybe the transmission will loosen up when I refill it.......    But I hope to god its not hooped.
Any ideas folks?

Did you remove, the backing plate at all? Maybe the axle pulled out. If so maybe the fulcrum plates have poped out.
