Yes here it is Shut --to cause something to come together with another surface,hmmmm, (with up)To bring together the parts of the (eye, mouth, etc) so that there is no space between them.
So, in order for you to mean shhhh in a quiet, and in a firm tone you would say.... SHUSH!!
As for using the word SHUTUP.--its a rude way to ask someone to be quiet! ( not a positive tone )
lets see....'Could you please keep you mouth shut!' --not as negative, and still effective!!
Anger--positive, or negative..hmmm...
