How much do your slicks leak out over night?

Are you running tubes?

What should be acceptable?

I have new old firestones, and they leak out the sidewalls when checking with soap water.

I always run tubes, The old firestones leak on the sidewalls as you said. The tubes are a much safer way to go.

Just to add to this, I had put 27 pounds air in my slicks in Aug for the GC, and then put them back on the shelf when I realized I coudn't make it.  I had them put onto wider rims and at the same time put dishwasher soap generously onto the side walls.  November I checked air pressure and the one had 25 pounds air, the other had 20.  Now fast forward to now, one has 15 and the other is 21.  So the dishwasher soap trick works to keep the air in the tire alot longer than without.  Before overnight the airpressure in the one tire would go from 27 to 12.

If I remember right it was Geoff who told me about this at some point in our conversation.

At the track the tire pressure is checked and reset every run so unless you are daily driving on the slicks, why would you want to use heavy tubes in them? I've never had tubes in mine and yes they do go flat after sitting a couple of weeks . Wayne

Pump the slicks up before you go to the track. Then buy a tank to put compressed air (lordco, crappy tire etc etc) when/if you run low at the track.

I see a valid point when you put the oldschool DOT firestones on but for race slicks I see no point.

Even the M&H's leak, just make sure that there is a good clean surface on the inside lip of the rim otherwise they wont hold air.

I have a set of MT ET Street drag radials and they hold air just fine a little heavier but you can run them on the street just a thought. Glenn
