What does everyone use to clean bakelite?? I was diggin through my box o' goodies and found some ashtrays that need some attention before they go into the notch. would it be a bad idea to paint the bakelite?

The guy giving an auto restoration course I just took had some stuff he used - of course I didn't write it down. He runs Rumble seat restorations in Abbotsford. Give him a call - maybe he will tell you over the phone. He is one of the old time craftsmen - he knows all the tricks.

Auto restoration course!!!! That sounds cool!! Where can I find out more about that?  who,what,where,when,why?
