Stroker Radial Clearence

Hello all!

Just starting the build up on my engine and checking for clearences.

How much radial clearence should I have between the crank/rods and cam lobes/case? so far i have .040, is this enough?

also how much clearence should I have between the cam bolts and oil pump? .020 enough?

DEPENDING ON THE QUALITY OF THE PRODUCT  .040 inches for any of the rotating mass is more than enough.if it is going to flex more than that it is due to cheep parts and you will have other problems anyway.don't forget to allow for for and aft movement of the crank as well as the rods.eg crank has .007 end play plus rods have .020 side clearance you can see how the whole assemble just shifted almost .030 in one direction.double check your rod and crank clearance against the cam .depending on cam type and crank supplier it can get tight.i think you should have more clearance of the cam bolts to pump that seams close to me.maybe you have a extra washer on the cam bolts?good luck,take your time and tripple check everthing 3 times

it's always the one thing you overlooked that comes back to haunt you later on, can't ever be to sure. :D oh yeah use a good sealant as well and lots of assemble lube

How much can i safely take of of the pump?  I was hesitant is doing this because it might lose the swedge pressure holding the lower gear rod in place.

As for clearencing the cam. i was only going to spot face the area where the washers sit so it sits in a bit deeper on the cam gear, not the cam itself. i just need about .015 more.

you can be assured that i'm triple checking 8 times... and i'm still paranoid.   :mellow:
