The Spring Thaw has been so popular for the last four years, we decided to start a new event in September called The Fall Freeze. This is your opportunity to join in on the fun with other classic car and driving enthusiasts.
The Fall Freeze is a budget-minded driving adventure through British Columbia for pre-1979 touring and sportscars. This un-scored, non-competitive event takes place entirely within the province of British Columbia and consists of approximately 1200km of driving over three days. Organized by Squamish Classic Car Adventures and West Coast Rally Association, the event uses straight-forward route instructions that won't require a calculator or any rally experience. We're here to show you great roads, and great friends...not here to get you lost!
Similar to CCA’s “Spring Thaw”, the route will remain secret until competitors receive their entry packages at registration. Way-finding instructions will be detailed and clear, and will not require any calculations or rally knowledge. The event consists of 100% paved roads, mountainous terrain and driving is scheduled during daylight hours. The Fall Freeze is open to sport, touring and classic cars from 1979 and earlier. Sorry, no trucks or motorcycles. All vehicles must meet legal road-worthiness standards, and we recommend they be ready for a long weekend of driving through mountains and winding roads (though, past history has shown breakdowns are just as entertaining for the rest of us!). Total Entry Fee $504.00 CAN or USDEntry deadline is September 1st, or when all spaces are filled. Included with your entry fee are two nights accommodation (two adults), dinner each night, route book, event decals and a Fall Freeze Schwag-Bag.
This year's event will start in Kamloops BC on September 28th, and finish in Hope BC on September 30th. We're exploring a new set of roads not previously used on any Spring Thaw. Any questions about the event should be directed to

I have been on other car events but I must say that the Spring Thaw Adventure seemed to put the emphasis on “Adventure”. After seeing the many different cars and talking with many people at the event, I am left wondering if it is the Spring Thaw that attracts the “Adventurous” people and their cars or is “Adventurous” just part of the nature of the people from British Columbia? Either way, the result is tons of fun! -John
Gents, once again, a stunning success. One of the things I love about the Thaw is that there’s so much more to offer than a “one marque” outing. Last year I learned that Alfas may look high to the uninitiated (me!) compared to many other sports cars, but they excel in the twisties when you add in a bump or two – as in, “real roads.” This year, one of the things I learned is just how much power a 6 cylinder Jaguar has, on the long hill climbing out of Merritt. I’ve never seen one driven like that, and it was impressive! -Duncan
