WTB - short axle
« on: May 19, 2012, 03:04:18 PM »
Does anyone have a good used short axle for an early swing axle tranny? Anything pre 1966 will do. Hoping to find something local before I order from Rancho. Maybe $20?
Thx, Jason

Hey, I'm in Abbotsford as well. The axle should measure 26 1/2" end to end. The spade end on one of my has some very deep gouges in it from wear. Just hoping to find a nice clean replacement.

Jason, Try and get the correct side axle L or R as it's better to keep them in the same rotation (if you swap them side to side) other wise they can break under hard load. I don't know if ytou have a big engine going in but just to be safe. They will be marked with either a pink or blue dot.

Thanks Geoff, I completely forgot to mention left or right. It's my drivers side (left) that is worn out. Thanks for the offer rustybus, I just might be in luck!

do the dots correlate to a left or right side?
example blue left side?

Well I popped in to see Chris and he had a great axle for me - thanks Chris!

My axles and the one I got from Chris didn't have any of the colors marks Geoff mentioned. Thank goodness I marked mine left and right when I removed them.
