We think this picture was taken in 1954.  its my uncle with his new van standing infront of my grandpa's grocery/service station/dealership/post office/powerstation/telephone switchboard, he didn't sell vw's though, only Massey Harris Ferguson tractors, cars, trucks and groceries.

Did we get the year right on the van? we are only going by when the pumps were changed over from the glass bowl to the regular pump style and when Massey Harris added Ferguson to the name.  I like the rubber on the front and back bumpers, I didn't know they had that.

Sorry for the quality, I took a picture of it with an old camera cause our good camera is with our daughter.

Can faintly see the VOLKSWAGEN sticker below the back window. This was a Canadian only thing for earlier busses

Yes it is  Danbury, I just can't say anything about Danbury without typing a bunch of words down.  there is a book out that has a few pages in it from my grandpa, as he was one of the founding people of the town and had quite an impact on everyone around, his store is what kept the town alive.  He put in power and telephone to everyone way before the big companies came in with it.  I think maybe 20-40 people live there today.  Hopefully I can get out there to see it one day.  I could write many pages of the stories he told us. We have a 1 1/2 hour movie from the 40's to the 60's of Danbury and the life and times, mostly just the fun things they were allways doing and how everyone worked together, booting around in a bombadier during the winter, cause there were no snowmobiles, this is what brought in supplies, and was hired many  times by the RCMP to get to places snowed in way up north hours away, I could go on and on.  The one story I have to tell is when I was tunning up the gaunch launcher.  Grandpa is sitting on the other side of the fence listening to the engine idling while I am doing stuff, he comes around after abit, and tells me to lean it out, its gasping for air......I look at the wideband, and it says 11.5, he just looks at the dellorto and grabs a screwdriver and turns both idles in till he thinks it is right.....13.1 is where he set it on the wideband, but he doesn't know I have a wideband to look at.  He did it all by ear.  He was a gifted man when it came to engines, and between him and my dad, I was trulely blessed to have had so much taught to me starting at a very early age.
