WTB: 77-79 Van front seats
« on: June 02, 2010, 09:00:17 PM »
I would like to upgrade the front seats in my 79 T2 to something with a longer seat base and inboard armrests.  I was hoping to find a set of Vanagon seats with armrests but no luck yet so I am looking for a set of 77-79 front seats with good bases so I can remove the base and adapt some other type of seat.

Don't really want to cut up the original ones that I have in case I want to return the Van to its stock condition sometime in the future.

Condition of the upholstery is not important but the lower seat sliding/locking mechanism must be in good shape.  I believe early Vanagon seats (without the armrests) would work as well as long as I have 2 the same.

If you had a set of late model Vanagon tan seats with armrests that would be even better as they will just slide right in.  Vanagon seats are preferred over Westfalia Vanagon seats as the seat bases are longer.

Let me know what you have.  Thanks.

Hey, there's a guy on the Samba that has a Vanagon that he's parting out.

Maybe he has exactly what you need! He lives in Courtney though, so that may be a problem...depending on where you are.

I would just want those seats for the bases as they have no armrests.  Must be something local so I'll just be patient.  Thanks for the heads up though.  Greg is a good guy to deal with.

I had a deal cooking on a pair of Vanagon GL seats locally.  Guy agreed to sell them to me, and in the meantime (like a couple of hours) wifey sells them to some other dude.  Gotta love it!!  Moral of the story - manage the junk!!
