New Four Spider Set-up?
« on: August 18, 2009, 10:11:00 PM »
I took a look at my new Rancho race tranny tonight and noticed that it appears to have a different four spider box.  It looks "trapezoid shaped", whereas the previous one had more of a square box.  Is this a stronger 4-spider set up perhaps?

11/17 to 10/15 spider gears?
There is a difference in the angles. Count the teeth.
10/15 is stronger. Rancho knows what they're doing.

It's an insane world out there... and I'm proud to be part of it!

Your previous one was the same.  The angle off square is either 5 or 6

Pulled the old tranny today and found out that it has the round four-spider block...looks like the older "beef-a-diff"...this Rancho tranny is four years old:

Not a Beef-A-Diff.
The round one is the same thing as the square block, but made from pipe.  Obviously the square block is better.  However, the one from pipe doesn't seem to be weak.
