Steamworks Concours D'elegance

not vw (allthough there are a few pics of a close acvw relative), but i thought some of you might enjoy some pics.

i got there late so alot of the cars were gone, but the lack of foot traffic and cars sandwiched together made it a little easier to shoot some pics.

i have caught the last 3 steamworks concours shows, and i love the variety of cars and the setting is fantastic. i have always thought that some acvws would look great parked in this show....but no-one has yet to step up. as you can see from the pics, it's not all bone stock, period correct restos that are allowed in the show....it's a bit of everything. i worked at steamworks for 5 years, so i know the owner of steamworks/founder of the show & he's fairly open minded about the types of cars entered. i seem to remember seeing a rometch beeskow in the show a few years ago. a couple of top shelf acvws would make the show pop for sure!!!

this next car was pretty wild. 1948 tatra built in chzechoslovakia(sp?) that has an aircooled 8 cylinder 3L aluminum motor. after doing a little reading on the interweb, it sounds like the designer of the tatra & ferdinand porsche were in discussions about automotive ideas. it seems that the chzechs accused porsche of stealing the idea of a streamlined, rear mounted aircooled engined vehicle from tatra and using it for early kdf wagens. definately worthy of a google search....

one of my faves....very og & unrestored ford...

cool ford car hauler with a built in the late 1800's leon bollee trike on the deck....
