What Year Is It....
« on: August 21, 2007, 07:52:20 PM »
A beetle rag sunroof, on the ID plate 11   on the left, then on the right 4585367? The samba looks to put it as a 59? Type 2.com calls it a 62? Anyone have other ID info to get a year?
thanks

I thought the third number represented the year, (at least it does in later type 3). If I'm right, and that doesn't happen very often, it would be a 64. When was the last year for ragtop roofs?

The 3rd digit didn't start to represent the year until 1965. The last year of the sliding rag was '63.
Yours appears to be a 62 according to the # you provided
