I was on a mission today to fix all those annoying little oil leaks and ran into a little suprize. First on the list was the leaking extra 1.5 sump. I thought it was the gasket but it turned out after a little pressure test the casting was more porous than a sponge!! little pin holes everywhere. oooooh I was pissed !!!
I was gonna tig it but it would of taken forever to get all the oil out let alone weld everywhere, so I cleaned it really good and I know kinda jerry but took a center punch and peened the shit out of all the leaking areas (actually stopped the leaks) and smeared JB weld in between all the fins. It actually turned out pretty good after a quick coat of black crinkle paint and wipe off the tips of the fins with thinner.
On to the once again EMPI bolt on ever drip countless gasket change valve covers. I was gonna yank em and put on the old stock bail clip germans but remembered that I had them chromed and they didn't have any vents in them ( anyone want some beauty stockers? trade ya for some non chromies) So I resorted to a little rtv in the c channel and some of that red flange sealant on the head.........not what I wanted to do but we'll see if it holds.
