My New Hot-rod
« on: May 24, 2005, 02:12:47 PM »
Well I got myself a \"new\" car.

A 99% original (it has a header/quiet-pack exhaust) 1973 Type 3 Fastback.
My buddy inherited it from his Grandma and Grandpa who were the original owners, and he drove it for the last 2 months before yesterday when he bought a new Grand-Am (barf). It has all of the original functioning FI, only 74,000 km's :o , functioning BN4 heater  , , and a few other oddities that I can't quite remember. It's got rust in the front fenderwells from some ass-hat's idea of an undercoating job back in the day, but other than that she's pretty clean and unmolested - that's until I get at 'er though ;) .
I'll post pics over the next few days.

Time to take the square off the road and finally get at that thing.
Good times.

Well I actually picked it up last night.
I haven't seen it in a while and maybe it wasn't quite as original as I had thought. All fenders are pretty rusty and it was actually yellow from the factory and not the blue it is now. I drove 'er to work this morning and it hit the highway doin' 70mph no problem at all. I could have gone faster but there's cops all over the connector these days and I really don't need to lose my license again.

After looking this car over I really don't think she'd last another winter so I think I'm going to swap all of the good stuff off that my square needs (dash pad's mint, gauges, etc) and probably trade it in to a buddy for a bunch of parts I need for the square.

Only 70mph?...
Cops are really riding the connector these days huh..
well I guess I'll be quiet about the time that I got about 250kmh ride down the 91.....
But yes type 3s ride sooo nice..
If more power is better. Then too much is just enough.
Why do it once when you can do it thrice?
