Gas Tank Restoration

I have a tank that I want to get totally cleaned out.  Do you know anyone that does this?

A radiator shop should be able to clean it and test for leaks...if you've got leaks I suppose they could fix it...or you could by a MAP gas torch and some brazing rod and do it yourself...I have.

For additional metal cleaner and sealer I've used the POR-15 stuff on four VW tanks...one can of sealer is sufficient to do three 10.6 gallon Beetle tanks.  Learned that lesson after buying the first can and burning it up on one tank of course  ;)

Hey Shawn, I took my gastank to \"LEAKERS\" in Langley of the by-pass heading towards Fort Langley. Good luck.

What I did was take some CitriClean (marine degreaser) and some chain and throw it in there and slosh it around. The media blasted the outside and then Tig welded up the pin holes on the bottom - I also retaped the thread for a larger diameter outlet while I was at it. The painted the exterior with POR15.


Worked well.
