oil cooler perversion question
« on: June 11, 2014, 05:00:28 PM »
I noticed in a wrecking yard that a mid 90s chev truck comes with a decent sized tranny cooler that just so happens to have the same fittings as my oil filter lines.

so has anyone had a catastrophic dilemma with using a tranny cooler as an oil cooler? the passages look downright gigantic compared to the stock oil cooler..

I was thinking the drivers rear wheel well was a safe as spot as any for mounting. has anyone have a better idea?

I'd use a Mesa cooler as they have a tougher design if any rocks kick up. Cip sells them

I'm familiar with those coolers as I Worked at a chev dealer.. I'd definitely use one. They are very tough and have rather thick aluminum. Wreck it? No problem, you only paid 20 bucks. You might want to check Gilbert's and Lordco and see what a new aftermarket one is worth.
Sucks to your assmar.
