Aircare question

My stock 1600s/p bus took some finessing to get through the Aircare last June. Something weird was going on. I managed to pass it after 3 tries but would like to avoid the waste of time this time around. What I'm wondering is this: since the Aircare is ending with this year, could I not cancel the insurance before the Aircare has expired and then immediately renew it for a year making it "needing" Aircare in spring of 2015? That would save me the trouble of having to Aircare it again.

I don't see why not. An expiry date is an expiry date.

Just call and ask an insurance broker, I believe they have a minimum number of days required for a renewal.

Yes. I've done it on my mother in law's old Rabbit as it was a pain to get it aircared. She's super above board, no working the system in any way, but was so annoyed by the process, cancelled it two weeks before the air care expired, then bought insurance again. Meant turning her old plates in, paying for and getting new ones... but still less than the money it would have cost to get it through aircare so it bought her an extra year before having to pass again. This was a year or so ago.

Man, it can be irritating to deal with people who are super straight laced and would never consider working the system in a perfectly legal manner, even though the system is clearly working them.
