i just went and looked at a 1956 356 coupe - number matching - with motor - for $20K

but it needed full front and rear clips, new floors and both doors.  came with an extra motor though

i know i'll be kicking myself in 10 years for passing on it, but the bodywork alone would have been $25K

 that thing might have been a 356 about 30 or 40 years ago. the list for what is still good or salvageable would damn short.
