Engine Serial Numbers - How to date, etc
«
on:

I have looked online but I find referencing that I can make sense of.
Does anyone know what engine # AE 379 891 would be in terms of manufacture date and size - it looks like a 1600..
definitely not the original motor for the 1961 I have.
Thanks
JJ

I don't think the Samba list goes that new.
An AE engine is from 71-72. It's the same as a later case but comes 10mm studs and without headstud inserts.
Perfectly good base to build any engine with.

Thanks for the info Bruce, the Samba has some info, but is hard to disseminate. I appreciate the info.
