Help on Posting Images
« on: September 08, 2010, 09:01:26 PM »
Many new and old forum participants don’t know how to post, or embed, an image within a forum message.

The process is quite simple and the method is the same for most forums.

The image must first be uploaded to a server such as at an online photo hosting site.

   - Telus and Shaw provide you with limited storage space
   - www.theimagehosting.com or http://www.picstation.net or http://imageshack.us or many others.

Go to the image at a hosting service, right click it and open the Properties menus.

Next, highlight the full address (URL), copy the URL and then paste it into the subject area in a forum post. For the image to appear, you MUST include the .jpg or .png or .gifextension.

Generally, you should get the URL from the image itself, not the address bar of a browser.

The link you use to direct to your uploaded image must look something like this or it will likely not work

http://www.myimage.com/mywebspace/image001.jpg  (disregard the fact that the forum thinks this is a link, it wont likely go anywhere)

It must contain the http:// and must have some sort of file like *****.jpg or *****.gif or *****.png at the end, other examples will work your image link address could be quite long.

When you go to the thread you wish to post your picture in, you want to ensure you are using the reply button to post a message not just the quick reply.

You want to see this in the new message window

In that window you will see a button that looks like this

if you click on this button it will insert what we call BBcode into the message body.

The BBcode will look like this

In the middle of the two brackets ][ you want to place your image link.

It should look something like this

To see if the link is working correctly you can click the PREVIEW button below the message body and it
will test your post and show you at the top of the page, you can then adjust or edit your message prior
to posting it for everyone to see.

I think I covered everything, if you have questions or do not understand feel free to reply to this and I
will try and answer your questions and adjust this document as needed.

or go to    http://www.imageshack.us/  browse for the files you want to upload, click upload, let it process and copy the link for use with forums. Create your message as normal on airspeed, add the link and preview it to see it's there. Done.

I thought I would share Imgur.com site for image hosting to upload pictures to forums.  I was having difficulties and found this site to make it easy.
