Hey guys,
I'm having problems with my fresh 1600cc dp blowing out oil. It leaks the normal little sump leak and a drop ever week around the valve cover but in the engine bay its leaking a lot. It appears to be blowing oil out the dipstick tube and the crank pulley? Any idea why it would do such a thing? its got me..

Your breather tube is open I assume? Check it with a piece of heater hose on the end and blow ( or do something else but risk a mouthfull of oil and maybe a trip to e-thug) Maybe somethings blocking it, if not you have way too much blowby and need a breather box and vented rockers or better yet find out why the rings are leaking.

What do you mean by \"fresh\"?
This sounds like a piston ring issue. Combustion gases are escaping past the rings, into the engine case. The rings have not seated properly, or in an older engine, are excessively worn. Check your cylinder pressure, with leak down, or compression test.

Pull off your pulley and inspect the OD of the hub that projects into the case.  Check the surface of the case  near that hub.  Sometimes a bit of grit gets caught between the pulley and case, then it tears away the case, building up on the pulley, making the problem worse.  If your case has been chewed up badly, it will leak lots.  The cure is a sand seal.

Fresh I mean it was rebuilt recently.(like 6000 miles ago)....

I had this problem in my ghia. I used a cheap ass pulley and the oil was coming out of the dipstick and behind the pulley. I bought a new one and replaced it and no more mess. Good luck, Brian

I like that idea and I think I may need to pick  up the pulley from russ that I told him I wanted a while back and try it out.

Are we refering to the big pulley on the back with the fan/alternator belt? Is that where the leak is?
