Just putting this out there. We are planning a trip to Mexico (down the Baja) for 2007. I know it's a long ways off but it gives us lots of time to make what we have reliable. Anyways, it would be cool to get some other aircooled VW's going down. We will not have a set Itinerary, but plan to have a laid back trip, do relatively short drives, and stay in some exciting places. The plan is to travel down the Baja eventually arriving in Cabo. Then head back up to La Paz, and take a car ferry to Mazatlan, Have some fun there, and maybe drive the coast down to Puerto Vallarta. I've been down the Baja in a bus before twice...It is amazing! This would be one of those life changing experiences. Does this interest any of you? We would be camping mostly, and will try to keep it fairly inexpensive, but also treat ourselves once in awhile.  ^_^

I'd be all over that!
If more power is better. Then too much is just enough.
Why do it once when you can do it thrice?

Just to get you thinking...check out the itinerary from \"Baja and Back\"

We would like to pick some of the more interesting stops and follow something like this but make decisions as we go about how long we stay where and where to go next. ;)

Just a few ideas... when you get to Cabo, you could go up the Pacific side to Todos Santos(visit Pacadero surf camp for cheap accom, very cool place. When in PV, you could drive just north to Sayulita (groovy little fishing village with good surf).

This looks like a great idea and opportunity. What time of the year do you intend on going to Mexico? Also how long are you planning to go for?
