2" narrowed link pin front end - SOLD
« on: April 07, 2016, 07:52:37 PM »
I built up a narrowed front end for my car and in the end decided to go with stock spindles and a stock width beam, at the modest drop I was looking for (just leveling the car, collector plates) all the modified bits were pushing the envelope a bit.

It's an original German beam with modified shock towers to clear the body, OG needle bearings that were cleaned checked and greased. Beam is pumped up with NLGI 2 synthetic grease. Bump stops have been removed, which bothered me so I had them left on when I got my stock width beam built and now I know why... they bottom out all the time even with a mild drop on my other one. I have a set of limiter straps that I can include but unless you plan to run it at less drop than the 2.5" spindles (adjusters in the 'up' range) and whale on in in the corners you won't need them.

I have a set of original Kamax shoulder bolts for the upper shock mounts that have been cad plated, and I have a set of straight trailing arms that I've degreased, derusted and painted up to match along with new trailing arm grease seals. Spindles are 2 1/2 inch drop spindles from CIP with the machining finished so that (1) they assemble - required milling down one to the correct size so it would fit the spindle carrier, and (3) deep drilling to finish the machining of the speedo cable holes so that the cable would actually install. Straight stock spindle carriers, new king pin bushings properly pressed in and reamed and all assembled. Includes narrowed torsion leaves (greased and installed), and narrowed tie rods new from CIP. I put the link pins and bushings on my stock beam, so the only thing it will need is a link pin/bushing kit to be a complete front end.

Shocks are like new KYB GR-2 gas shocks.

This is currently well over $1000 worth of parts from CIP, plus the machining/pressing/reaming and taxes, not including a set of straight spindle carriers and trailing arms that have been de-rusted and detailed. I was really proud of the beam, painted it all up in zinc chromate primer and acrylic enamel semi-gloss and then scratched the shit out of it test fitting it and putting the steering box on... still it's not going to take much to touch it up, especially compared to the crap paint on the CIP stuff. Carriers are semi gloss, spindles are done in a nice cast iron finish paint.

I'll sell the package for $700.00 or make me a reasonable offer.

Not looking to baby sit a bunch of parts at the swap meet but if you're coming for Dubs in the Barn I can bring it out to meet up.
