WTB - 1964 Bus Curtain Set to borrow for pattern
« on: March 03, 2013, 12:10:47 PM »
Hello All,

I'm in the middle of restoring a 64 13 window walk through and need to make curtains.  I was hoping someone might have a set that I could trial fit then send to the interior shop to copy.
No harm would come to them.  I would need them for a couple of weeks.
Otherwise does anyone know where I could find patterns?

Thanks,
Josh

Curtains are easy to make for the T2.  Anyone handy with a sewing machine should be able to make them in a few hours.  My wife made a set many years ago for out 63 Kombi without any patterns and my oldest daughter made a set for my 79 bus a couple of years ago with some basic dimensions obtained from the Samba.  Here is a link I found on the Samba that gives the basic dimensions.  You will need to decide on the type of material, whether you want single or double sided and how you will attach them to the vehicle.  I used about 7 yds of material single sided on the 79.  A nice heavy hopsack material (sun out in summer and heat in during winter) that matched one of the colours in the seat covers cost all of $20 at the fabric store on the Langley bypass.
