Vinyl Wrap

Hi

I'm looking into changing the color of my car (currently red) to look like my avatar.

I went and got a quote from a guy I know that works out of his home, there is very minimal body work that needs to be done just a few rust bubbles to fix and a couple trim holes to fill and he quoted me around $1800 to do single color and around $2500 to do the two tone i want, and he said that doesn't include doing the door jams or anything, plus he would just paint over all the seals such as fender beading, tail & license plate light seals, door handle seals ect... which is what the previous owner did (and looks like s**t and should have never been done in the first place) and is not the right way to paint a beetle and was a deal breaker for me.

So once I got home from that waste of my time I started thinking about doing a full vinyl wrap, I could probably get the vinyl for under $1000. so my question is has anyone here ever wrapped a bug or know of anyone that has, and how hard it would be to diy "the right way" fenders, lights, windows ect off?

Talked to a professional wrap guy a couple years ago and he said he would never do a beetle again. Too many curves, just way too difficult to do well.

I've got a wholesale account for vinyl, and did consider doing the black hood and engine lid on my bug in vinyl in case I wanted a "normal" looking car down the road. After a few minutes of thinking about doing the wrap I quickly changed my mind. Go and get a quote on vinyl wrap for a bug and it will make paint look cheap. There is a reason for that, the job is an absolutely $#@%Q!#$.

You don't say where you're located, but you might want to consider contacting GLI Autowerks in Chilliwack about a paint job on your bug. You'll save yourself money by removing all the trim, seals and rubber...and that way they won't be painted over either. The guys were fantastic to work with on my car. I had very specific needs since I planned to race it in gravel, and had a factory race-team paint-job I was copying. The guys were super accommodating and knew exactly where to spend their time (and my money) so the job was done right and I was satisfied. info@gliautowerks.com, Lorne or Gerry are your contact.

yeah, i would probably paint it myself if i had the space to do it.

I have yet too do one, but a shop I work with that logo's my trailers does vehicle wraps.I watched him do a 2010 VW bug in four colors fro a real-estate lady.Looked fantastic.Colin @Big-Rig Wraps 1-877-309-0298,He's not cheap but sure does nice work.

me and my brother wrapped half of his mini and what turned from a 1 day job took almost a week, never doing that again !!
