Importing a trailer into Canada... ??
« on: September 14, 2011, 07:37:10 PM »
ok.. I know the drill all too well about bringing a car across. I did a search online, but only came up with info on RVs..  Does anyone know what's involved for a flat deck car trailer?

Trailers don't require the export fiasco like a car does. You're just worried about importing it through Canadian Customs, which can be done at any time of day/week.

If it's 15 years or younger it RIV does apply, if older it does not.

I saw someone go through a big headache because a Border agent asked if the trailer was compliant with DOT Canada.

Ok.. so I don't need to have it all done with that 3 day BS, correct?
Can I bring it straight through, and simply pop into customs to pay the taxman?...

brought an older travel trailer through a few years back . It was easier than bringing back a case of beer on a gas run trip
