Tow Bar for VW Thing?

Will a standard beetle tow-bar work, or do I need something special?

Hey Dave,
The beam itself is the same so I would assume it would. Do you need to borrow a towbar? We have a Beetle one and we have a bus one you could try on our thing (and borrow if it will work) if you are planning on being out this way.

hmmm, well I have a beetle one. Any chance you could check it on your thing and let me know if it works? Otherwise I might need to swing by and borrow the bus bar...one of the two must work!

i've seen some tow bars not fit if the lower factory beam stiffeners are in place.
