Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan

First off I just wanted to say Thanks on the behalf of our Club for all the emails regarding the health and safety of our two members and other Japanese friends. At this time we still have not had any word from Hanawa or Jinya, I would think it could be a few more days due to the lack of power and limited internet. They are based in Tokyo and that's good news asit was not hit as hard as other locations. Unfortunatly I think their famlies live in more rural areas.
As soon as we hear from them we will post here.

All the video and  photo's coming in over the past few days don't look good.

the water and earthquake may be the lesser of the problems they may suffer if the nuclear power plants are not brought under control.  They said they are having to release steam (radioactive) in "small" doses but there is a chance that a melt down could occur!

I do not even have a clue of what they are experiencing.
The nuclear stuff is the macro-factor because it is likely to rise to the jet stream and fall elsewhere and lt could affect other people in other places and probably in my mind, the last thing I would be concern about.
Unlike, the last tsunami, Japan is a well developed country where there is infrastructure, an industrial base, etc. People have Jobs, mortgages, etc. From a micro-basis you now do not have a job and even if your home survived you cannot pay for it. Your circle of friends and families may have not survived.
Our  reality is that it could happen here.

Word just came in that Hanawa and family are ok but electricity, food and water are all in shortage.

now they are worrying about all three reactors melting down.  Also in the South part of the Island a volcano has started erupting again after being dormant for a few weeks.  If it wasn't for bad luck they wouldn't have any.....Good news they found a 60 yr old man floating on his houses roof.  They were able to pull him off the rood.  He was only 15km's out in the ocean from where his house use to stand!!

Egspot: ask the people in Chernobyl if the melt down affected them....it is all bad news for everyone when a nuclear reactor leaks or melts down....

Don't need to ask... It has been well documented and the effect will be felt for generations to come ( I stand corrected.) However, i believe they are more likely to be thinking of ” what now?”.
Where would i and my family sleep next?
What would we eat?
Water?
Medical?
What would the guy next door do?
All that stuff comes to mind.

You've been sucked into the news media's sensationalisms.
As far as volcanos are concerned, if it's been a few weeks since being active, it hasn't been "dormant".  Besides, that particular volcano is only spitting up a bit of ash.  Like it's been for years.

It's pretty heroic how they coping with disaster after disaster (there's outbreak of bird flu that no one has mentioned).  Lack of clean water, basically the country is starting all over again but they are not in a state of panic.  They are doing their jobs and helping.  There's no mass lootings, no selfishness. 

Mother nature has been horrific here, but the people have been just heroic angels.  There were alot of heroes during 9/11 (I was in Washington at the time, the helicopters were overhead 24/7 and people were PANIC sticken!).  DC was basically shut down, no one left their houses (even way out in the burbs!). 

I can't even imagine what the people of Japan must be feeling, but from what all report say, they are continuing to function.  That's pretty epic.
