Transit police are seeking the public's help in finding a stolen miniature VW Bug sculpture.
The cast-aluminum sculpture of the miniature replica VW Beetle, which is part of the Vancouver Biennale's "in-TRANSIT-ion" exhibition History of Loss outside the King Edward Canada Line transit station, was taken earlier this week after the art display case was vandalized.
The car sculpture was displayed along with a number of others in clear plexiglas boxes stacked in rows in a free standing structure next to the Canada Line station. The sculpture is about two feet by three feet in size and weighs 40 pounds.
This is the second theft of one of the miniature replica VW Beetle automobiles from the art installation. In March, the display case was also vandalized and a sculpture was stolen, but later recovered.
Transit Police are investigating the vandalism and theft.
Anyone with information is asked to call 604-515-8300 or can contact the Crime Stoppers tip line at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477).
