What transmission/flywheel do you have and what year is your bus? There's 2 different starters and they don't interchange.

Great! I'm not sure about the flywheel and I think it is a 5 rib (I think that's what they are called). The van is a '73 but it's not the correct engine for the van. I obviously need help & guidance!!!

1.8 and below still take a sr15n/x you need a 76 to 79 sr87x no have one......sorry....

Well that depends on the transmission and bellhousing, not the engine size. A 2L goes onto a 3rib or 5 rib just fine if you recycle the early flywheel, if that's the case a SR15 is what you need.
