2000ccs from a 1700?

I am going to look at a buggy that has a 2000cc engine that the guy says was originally a 1700 and was bored (stroked?) to a 2000. What kind of work needs to be done to do this? Can it be done reliably without thinning out the cylinder walls too much? Not familiar with anything over a 1600 so any help is greatly appreciated thanks

It probably would have been both bored to 94mm and stroked to 76mm. the formula is (((piston size mm
xpiston size mm) X crank size mm) X .0031416). So, (((94X94)X76)X.0031416)=1995cc.

Whats a T4? its an aircooled engine from a beetle sorry if that doesnt help

Would a 1995 from a 1776 be reliable or are the cylinder walls pretty weak?

Type 4 would not be Beetle.

For a type 1, 94mm cylinders are very reliable if you ask me. Some others may not agree.

Give it some time and more knowledgeable members will jump in and give their opinion.
