Gas Heater From 6-12v?
« on: January 11, 2008, 07:00:59 PM »
I was just given a 6v Gas Heater, its a Perfection Heater made in Ohio.  My dad was going to use it to heat his Model A Ford but didn't bother using it.  Problem is I'm on a 12 Volt system in my Karmann Ghia.  Has anyone converted one before? Can I get a reducer for the whole machine or just change to coil and Fan motor?  Its in great shape and I would love to get it in the car for some toasty heat.  I also wouldn't mind an instruction manual I think samba has some of that stuff.  Anyone ever converted one before? Any knowledge would be helpful Thanks!!

I seem to recall that all gas heaters were actually 6 volt even in the 12 volt cars but then again I old and my memory could be failing!!! There are certainly step downs for wiper motors etc. Wayne
