Post by: moni on October 24, 2006, 04:59:58 PM: I've been thinking about Airspeed closing and, like most of us I'm sure, felt like I wanted to do something for the guys. I came up with this idea and, after a quick survey of folk, there seems to be an appetite for something like this. So here goes nothing...

Airspeed Appreciation Night
Friday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m.
Shark Club
20169 88th Ave. in Langley, B.C. (beside the Sandman Hotel in Walnut Grove)
Tickets: $15, and include a burger, fries and sleeve of beer
There will be a 50/50 draw, maybe a raffle/door prizes and a few surprises.

What's the deal?
Yes, it's an excuse to party, but it's also a chance for all of us to thank the guys for four years of absolutely fantastic service. If you're feeling guilty about getting all that free advice and/or deals on parts, this is an opportunity for karmic top-up. All proceeds will go to Geoff and Jim to help pay the bills or go on a bender or something... And mostly, because it's really all about the love. :wub:

A couple of important notes:
* We need folk to arrive at 7 p.m. sharp, cos shortly thereafter Shark Club staff will have to sell our seats. It is a Friday night afterall...

* The Shark Club has been fantastic to us in offering up space (they'd even be willing to put on a mini car show, if the weather's nice), but the reservation is for a minimum of 75. The good news is that they can hold a maximum of 240 patrons... so if there's a lot of interest, they will totally accommodate us. I'm rinting 100 tickets -- but would LOVE to print more.

:!: I'll be at Airspeed Saturday afternoon (about 1 p.m. on) if you want to buy tickets. If you can't make it this weekend, then give me a shout. I gotta know a rough estimate of our numbers by next Wednesday.

please note, you cannot buy tickets at the door : i have to call in our numbers TOMORROW (wednesday). if you are planning on coming, send me a PM with how many tickets you want so i can reserve your spot(s). you can square up when you get there on friday -- i just really need to know how many are coming in advance.

i have *a few* more spots. the reservation is for 75, so if you want to come let me know. AND if we hit our max, you're welcome to join us at Shark Club, you just won't get the burger/beer deal.

and don't forget, we need everyone to arrive by 7 p.m. Shark Club will give away our seats about half-hour later, so let's keep everyone together and sit down to a good meal as one big honkin' group. :lol:

Thanks to everyone who made it out, It was amazing to see so many people turn out. A huge thank you to Moni and crew for putting this on, You guys rock. You can't ask for a better bunch of customers/friends.

and thanks to everyone who came out me and danny being like the only young people there all u old guys are fucking wicked to party with all u sure know how to have a blast thanks ive gotta come out more with u guys thanks again for a night to remember

what a kickass send-off for the boys. i said it before, and will say it again: no ford or chevy club would come together to celebrate their own like this. only in the ACVW community baby... :rockon:

HUGE THANKS to Shane for helping to secure Shark Club (and donating some cool swag); Mikey for helping with ticket sales and 50-50; James for the advice, raffle prizes and selling raffle tickets; Jax for the cool prizes; Silas for the raffle donation; Franklin's VW Werks for the generous gift certificate... and the words of support from so many of you. and to our outta-towners (Fred, Annie, Danielle, Jax) thanks for making the trek out; not only did ya help out tons with raffle/50-50, but having you guys/gals there made the night just that much more special. plus it was good to see you again -- even if the vision was a little blurry by the end of the night.

with ticket sales, raffle and 50-50, there was $670 leftover -- which will go to Geoff & Jim. while it pales in comparison to what we've all gotten in parts, advice and friendship, it's a small token of appreciation for everything you guys have done for us over the years.

k, time for me to pass out again... keep telling myself that no matter how bad i feel, our young Jeff must be twice as rough. :lol:

I have never met a finer bunch of folks than those who participate in the ACVW scene. This I say after driving a 2006 Jetta GLI water box all the way home. Whoooo Hooooo now I know why Danielle drives so very very fast. It is fun. I need my own Fast.....
Thanks to Shane and Amanda for their unending hospitality. Breakfast was a kick. Truly Divine, Truly.....
