WOW!!!! This is sudden and quick. I hope it all works out.
What a huge decision for Jim and Geoff.
Hope everything is ok.

I could just cry....... So much for a local supply cause it will be a frosty day in you know where before I deal with CIP again.
-
I just want to say thank to Geoff and Jim for all they have done for the local VW scene, I personally believe they put VW's back on the map again in BC. Running such a \"specific\" supply store is a tough go. These two guys did this because they truly love VW's. I hope the site stays as this has brought hundreds of people together.
Sorry I could not have supported you more, Thanks for all your \"Free Advise\" and Thanks for all the times you lent a Hand. You two are truly great friends....
-
I also want to thank the guys of Airspeed for the wealth of knowledge the frequently gave away, the dedication to the VW hobby, and the numerous sponsorships for local shows and events.
I'm gonna miss going to the store to shoot the shit. :(
Thanks Geoff, Jim, Gary, and Jason.
-
Man friday the 13th sucks This is a real shame :( :( :( :( :( :( Sorry to hear the news good luck with whatever you move on to Jim ,Geoff ,Jason and all those involved with Airspeed :)
I will miss dropping into the shop to chat and pick up a few things :( :(
-
WOW!
That is too bad.
My most sincere thanks. You were all there in many ways as suppliers, advisers, and providers of this forum and other promotional means for the VW community in the lower mainland.
I like to think that you all will remain a part of this community and that our paths could cross again. With all good wishes for good rhythms in your future endeavors.

:!: I am still in shock :!:

truly a sad day in the ACVW community.
geoff and jim have done so much for the scene, it's amazing. as for service, it's always been top-notch. you both helped me so much during the engine rebuild; without you guys, it would have been impossible. and not just by supplying parts: you patiently answered my \"dumb girl\" questions, were never patronizing, infinitely supportive (when all the other shops either ripped me off or wouldn't give me the time of day) and made a backyard mechanic out of me.
the shop will be sorely missed.
i wish G, jimmy, jason and jeff all the best in future endeavours
-
Wow, without a doubt a sad day for veedubbers, sorry to hear things have to end guys, there's other shops but none have airspeeds service.
-
No shit!?!? That sucks man! :(
Sorry to hear that guys
-
Ya....this really sucks! Being able to walk in....talk to people who know what they are doing and get the parts you need is awsome...i'm gonna miss that. Good luck guys!
-
:(
I was really shocked to hear it today from Geoff when I phoned there. I had no idea!
I'm sorry to hear this, and I know how hard it can be to run a business that caters to a niche market. You guys were always great to me, provided good advice, and carried some top notch products. I will miss popping in when I come to town, but I'm sure we will meet again.
I wish you guys all the best in the future. :)
-
GUTTED...............best of luck to all those involved
-
This is very sad news. I wish it wasn't true. Very sorry to hear this guys.
-
I will be among the people to congradulate these guys for opening something that was said couldnt be done and make something of it. I understand from being involved in the business it is a hard thing to keep your head above water with a giant beside you. I know that Jim and Geoff will come back with something better whether its together or alone. I know it will be great because they are true visionaries with cars and such. BruceM
-
daymit guys this sucks...W/o Jim and Geoff i never would have been able to built/finish my bus...i am bummed, those are 2 of the coolest guys i have ever met (even tho' they're canadians!! lol) !!
wow guys...good luck i wish the best for ya!
-
I am shocked dude, I really appreciate all the things you do for the V'dub scene.
I wish the best of luck to all you guys and to geoff for all the help he has givin me, The advice alone I shoud have paid for. Cheers and thanks so much.

I am still in shock! Since I found out about the closing of Airspeed. It has been on my mind everyday since. WOW This is very sad to see happen. I would just like to say thanks to Jim, Geoff and Jason for all there help the past 4 years. I would not have gotten into the V.W. World and be building my car to as big of a stage like I am if it weren't for you guys. I feel like I have lost a family member. I hope everything works out for you guys in the next couple of months, years to come. I think you guys did a Top Notch job and provided the best of service to the V.W. community. In closing let's all hope that one day maybe there may come a day where Airspeed will re-open. Keep in touch and thanks again for all your help. Ryan M :(
-
wow. that is too bad. good luck to geoff, jim, jason & jeff on all their future endeavors. i think you guys had a great run, helped out the acvw community in a huge way, and definatley helped put the word out that bc is serious about acvws.
to me, airspeed was \"the local speed shop\".
you know when you hear about those cool shops in the 60's that used to ignite the fire under young acvw fans asses. FAT performance, SCAT, Economotors, EMPI, gene berg enterprises....shops where people could walk in and see a car being built, touch and feel the \"new\" speed part that just arrived, oogle at the sweet mag wheels that would look great on their car, flip through the pages of the latest vw mag, shoot the shit with the owners, employees and customers that were there...well i always wished that there was a shop like that around here and airspeed became it. i didnt go there as often as i would have liked to and the purchases were small, but i always felt welcome and was always well taken care of.
thanks for that guys.
so is there a closing down party on saturday the 28th? anyone feel like cruising their acvw out there and getting beligerant in the parking lot?
-
this sucks. period.
hate to see you guys closing down, when i first got my beetle you were the only guys who had parts for me when you said you would have them, was a great help as well as helped me get into the aircooled scene with the forum and the meets
good luck on future endevors that you have.
-

Always a sad day when another VW shop closes :(
I remember when the VW shop in my neck of the woods closed. It was always a cool place to pick up some parts, hang out and shoot the shit with fellow VW nuts.

Sorry to hear the sad news!
Is there a way to keep this forum alive? It would be ashame to see this site go down, since there is alot of knowledge, comments, photos etc!
Thanks,

AirSpeed will be ceasing retail operations as of 28 Oct 2006. We sincerely thank all of our customers for their patronage and support during the last four years. We will continue to service online orders for on-hand inventory to the best of our ability until stock runs out. Everything must go, so please contact us with your wants list. The forum will remain on-line as a meeting place for all our friends in the Volkswagen community.

its not like you need to read fine print or something

Too bad the business couldn't be sold to some other vw gearheads. Seems like a quick decision to shut it down. But then we are only hearing of this now. It could have been in the planning stages for some time.

Wow. just found this out yesterday! Sorry to hear guys, you have no idea as to how much you really helped me out on my ghia. How am I going to get the Fiat done without you guys? :( . Whatever you guys do in the future, I wish you well. Thanks for the help and if I can do anything for you guys let me know. Brian. xoxo

Thanks everyone,
The business can be sold IF someone shows enough intrest and can take it on and make it grow. We don't want to sell it and have it go down hill. It's sometimes good to go out on top. If someone was really interested in the shop they can contact us. It would come with all dealer contacts, inventory- new and used, web store, customers,USA wharehouse, etc. It's a turn key business that you can set up anywhere.
As I have told Jim and everyone else I know, I will carry on the Airspeed forums as well as all extra forum gallery's, Video pages and such. As well I will always do my best to host show n shine's, swap meets etc wherever I can find time and space to do so. It's very important to me to keep the ASF alive for the VW comunity.
All of our customers have been great to us and it's the least I can do.
If anyone is thinking of building a car or motor now is the time to buy your parts. We have some great deals going on but stock is going fast!.
Thanks again to everyone for your support.

This is definitely sad sad news to hear. Never good to hear, and it even worse that it's happening now just before everyone's project work begins over the winter. Geoff, Jim and Jason Thanks for all your help and advise, if it wasn't for you guys I would not of gotten my motor running. I wish I could have supported you more in the past.
Best of luck to all you of in your future endeavors.

I once had a deal with Kirin which was paid by a credit with Airspeed.
I wonder after the fact.
If all the selling and buying that was conducted on the classifieds would have take place in the same fashion, whether we would be addressing this issue now.
-
yea, we'd all have airspeed credits with no value! ;) I'll miss you guys, I feel at least that I'd not crossed to the dark side of the big box store to buy something(CIP...) and only once to BowWow, although I've heard lots of rumours about their stability too. I guess they'll be my next spot.
thanks again for the help

Holy SHIT!

Damn! The week I pull my Ghia out of the garage, blow away 10 years of dust, and look forward to heading to Airspeed with wishlist in hand...
Really sorry to see you guys go. I've been out of the scene for a little while and it looks like I missed a great 4 years.
Geoff, I've been ignoring my ghia for a decade because I thought it needed too much work. After following your Heb-rod build-up and seeing it at GCVW, you inspired me. You're a legend dude.
Best of luck to the Airspeed crew.
