Recently in the last few years oil manufacturers dropped and additive from the content, causing huge amounts of cam failures. If you go to comp cams or crane there are now separate additives used when breaking in a motor to eliminate flat cam failure.....unless you have a chev then your screwed :P
Clevite,AC Delco,Crane, and Comp all sell this additive and every machine shop should know about it by now.
